MATERIALS UNIT




Where do materials come from ?

– Can you name some natural materials?

-Can you name some man-made materials?

-What is the difference between natural and manmade materials? 







UNIT VOCABULARY WORDS

PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS

-         Opaque. (Opaco) – you cannot see through it.

-         Waterproof. (Impermeable) – does not soak up water. 

-         Translucent. (Translúcido) – you can see through it a bit

-         Brittle. (Frágil) – hard but easily broken

-         Strong (Fuerte) – difficult to break

-         Natural (Natural) – not man-made

-         Rough (Áspero) – uneven Surface

-         Absorbent  (Absorbente) – soaks up water

-         Hard (Duro) – difficult to scratch or squash

-         Magnetic (Magnético)– attracted to a magnet

-       Transparent (Transparente) – you can see completely through it

-         Shiny (Brillante)– reflects light

-         Smooth (Liso)– even surface

-         Rigid (Rígido)– cannot be bent

-         Synthetic (Sintético) – man-made

-         Flexible (Flexible) – can be bent
