Cereal Box Book Report
Instructions for Students and Parents
Step 1: Read your book in English! You can read
it at home or with a family member.
Step 2: After reading, use the cereal box to
fill out all the sections. You can write or draw on each side.
Step 3: Ask your parents to help you if you need
it, but try to do the work yourself. Have fun making your report colourful and
creative!
Step 4: When you're finished, share your cereal
box with the class!
Front of the Cereal Box: Title and Illustration
Title of the Book:
My Book Report: [Book Title]
Illustration or Drawing:
Draw your favourite scene from the book!
(Here, the student can draw a picture that
represents their favourite part of the book.)
Left Side of the Box: Book Information
Author and Illustrator:
“Who wrote the book? Who drew the
pictures?"_
(Student writes the names of the author and
illustrator in simple sentences.)
Main Characters:
"Who are the main characters?"
(List 2-3 main characters with a brief
description of each one.)
Setting:
"Where does the story take place?"
(Write where the story happens, like "In a
jungle" or "In a city.")
Right Side of the Box: Summary and Opinion
Short Summary:
“Write 3-5 sentences about the book. What
happens?"
(A simple, brief summary of the book. Encourage
students to focus on the beginning, middle, and end.)
What Did You Like?
“What did you like about the book?"
(1-2 sentences about the things the student
enjoyed, such as characters, pictures, or a fun part.)
Would You Recommend It? Why or Why Not?
"Would you tell your friend to read this
book? Why?"
(This is where the child gives a simple
opinion—either yes or no, with a short reason.)
Back of the Box: Fun and Interactive Section
Rating:
“Give the book stars! How many stars out of 5 do
you give this book?"
(The student can draw stars or use numbers to
rate the book.)
Favourite Word or Phrase:
“Write your favourite word or sentence from the
book."
(The student writes a word or short phrase they
liked and say why.)
New Vocabulary:
“Write 2 new words you learned in this
book."
(Here, the student writes two new English words
they learned and their meanings in simple English or Spanish.)
Top of the Box: About the Author
Fun Fact About the Author:
“Write one interesting fact about the

(Students can use simple sentences or a fact
that’s easy to find, like the author’s hobbies or where they live.)
Rubric for marking project:-
1. Content (40 points)
Complete Book Information (Author, Characters,
Setting)
30 points (Did they provide complete and
accurate information about the book?)
Summary:
10 points (Is the summary clear, simple, and to
the point?)
2. Creativity (30 points)
Drawing/Illustration:
15 points (Is the drawing creative and related
to the book?)
Layout and good handwriting / caligrafía
15 points (Is the box organised? Does it look
neat and tidy?)
3. Opinion and Reflection (20 points)
Likes and Recommendation:
10 points (Did the student explain why they
liked the book and if they would recommend it?)
Favourite Word/Phrase and New Vocabulary:
10 points (Did the student include new words and
explain them in simple terms?)
4. Effort (10 points)
Effort and Parent Involvement:
10 points (Did the child try their best? Was
there some help from a parent?)
